BURGUNDY
Burgundy is recognized around the world for its prestigious AOCs, with exactly 84 appellations to its name, representing more than 23% of all AOCs attributed to French wines. This makes it the most terroir-conscious area of the French wine regions.
Burgundy’s wine-producing area stretches almost 300 km and consists of 5 large vineyards, from north to south: Chablis and Grand Auxerrois, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais. The primary focus of Burgundy’s production is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but there are also other grape varieties grown in the area at a much smaller scale, like Aligoté, Pinot Gris, Gamay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
